Welcome...

Two very fun things coming up.... one AT our Southern Exposure stores and one WITH our Southern Exposure stores.... our Zuni Fetish Carving Show & Sale is scheduled for Columbus Day Weekend October 9th & 10th.... it will be Saturday, October 9th in Mystic and Sunday, October 10th in Westbrook so everyone gets a chance to see the amazing collection of Zuni Fetishes brought to us this weekend only from Zuni Pueblo. Our guest artist this year will be Sandra Quandelacy! We are very fortunate that she is coming to be with us and you, our customers, and we know you will enjoy her and her work as much as we will! We are also excited to share with you Zuni arts trader Donald "Doc" Sharpe from Ramah, New Mexico. He is a delightful man with lots of history at Zuni and we are looking forward to his collection of hand picked Zuni Fetishes for the show and sale on October 9th and 10th and his company too!

But first we'll be joining our friends at High Hopes Therapeutic Riding for a good ol' family Hoedown on Saturday, September 11th from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at High Hopes in Old Lyme, Connecticut! This organization is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with cognitive, physical and emotional disabilities through the benefit of therapeutic horseback riding. Southern Exposure is extremely proud to have again been named the "Official Outfitter for the High Hopes Hoedown". We hope you'll join us on Saturday, September 11th at High Hopes and get your "hoedown gear" first at either of our Westbrook, CT or Mystic, CT stores to help us support our good friends at High Hopes. Fun stuff in the "hoedown gear" department would be boots, belts, hats, bandanas... you name it we got it pardner! Here is a link to the High Hopes website to enlighten you about the amazing work they do in our regional community for so many... and you can check out the Hoedown details too: http://www.highhopestr.org... live music, great food from Outback Steak House and much much more! Our Southern Exposure raffle prize is a pair of Lucchese Ladies Chocolate Mad Dog Boots so be sure to get your raffle tickets at either the Mystic or Westbrook store!

We recently had a very friendly visitor to our Westbrook, CT store...local ABC newscaster Ann Nyberg came in and after spending lots of time in the store, she asked if she could feature our Southern Exposure stores on her blog... and she did! Ann is a tremendously energetic, proactive person and doing a terrific job with her blog of enlightening people in Connecticut about local businesses and services so we can all help each other... it's the only way to go! Her great blog site is at www.anniemame.com and we have already had inquiries about her post on our Southern Exposure stores. Thank you Ann for your efforts to bring Connecticut folks together and here is the link to check out the site and her post on our stores below...

We always like to share fun stuff we experience with our Southern Exposure customers.... to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary we went on an evening cruise on the Connecticut River aboard the River Quest with Captain Mark and First Mate Mindy. It was a delightful evening... you can bring your own food and drinks and they have comfy tables and chairs set up for their guests. There is great viewing from the decks, and they provide binoculars, to see native Osprey, Heron and Bald Eagles on the river. Our cruise took in Gillette Castle and then we went up river for a very pleasurable two hour Sunset Cruise. The River Quest docks at the Eagle Landing State Park in Haddam, Connecticut just five minutes off Route 9. For more info, check out their website at: http://www.ctriverquest.com and talk with Mark or Mindy to make a reservation for any of their daytime or sunset cruises... could be just two of you or a whole group! Enjoy...

We had a terrific show in June with David Rosales... David brought his exquisite design of Navajo Inlay Jewelry to both Southern Exposure stores… this is bar none the finest Navajo Inlay work we offer and these artists pride themselves on intricate fine line inlay with great stones. Very unusual about the Navajo inlay jewelry pieces that are borne from David's design, is the additional of semi-precious faceted gemstones to the some of the work. It was a pleasure to again have David Rosales with us at our Southern Exposure stores and we bought two baskets full of his beautiful work for both stores after the show so be sure to take a peek next time you are in Mystic or Westbrook.

In addition to the great Lucchese and Old Gringo boots we are offering, we have added Justin Boots for your wearing pleasure…. Justin Boots provide a lot of comfort, fit and style for a terrific price. We have five or six styles of Justins in each store now and many more coming. Selected during the Boot Show/Colorado buying trip in January, many new Lucchese Ladies Slides and Pee Wee Boots have arrived in both stores and two new Old Gringo styles also... one Black with charcoal swirl stiching for Ladies and one squared toe style for Men!

Arts of the Great Southwest Branded with your Style...we bring you the arts of indigenous peoples... Pottery, Jewelry, Sculpture, Home Furnishings and One of a Kind Collectibles. If you do not see something on the website you are looking for, e-mail us and let us know what to find for you!
